SHILLONG:

Amid the political crisis in Meghalaya Congress, former minister and ex-legislator from Rajabala, Sayeedullah Nongrum rejoined the party on Thursday in a ceremony held at Congress Bhavan, Shillong.

The veteran politician, who was a minister during the Mukul Sangma government, lauded the leadership of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief, Vincent Pala, and informed that more leaders are set to join the MPCC in the coming days.

He said that with Pala leading the team, there is a renewed optimism in the party. “There are so many things that the Congress should do. They should invite all former Congressmen back to the party. We should not be arrogant. Let this election be over, those who had switched camps will come back,” he said.

Asked if there was indifference with Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mukul Sangma, Nongrum asserted that there are no permanent friends or foes in a party.
