Diplomatic delegation of four African countries is on three-day visit to Shillong

The delegation, comprising of High Commissioners of the four African countries -– Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi, are on a three-day tour of the city and are likely to meet the state government during the visit.

To promote Meghalaya as an international tourist destination and facilitate cultural and tourism exchanges between African countries and the state, a diplomatic delegation of four African countries landed in Shillong on September 25.

The delegation, comprising of High Commissioners of the four African countries -– Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi, are on a three-day tour of the city and are likely to meet the state government during the visit.

Expressing his happiness on visiting the state, Kenyan Ambassador to India, Willy K Bett said that he will strive to find cultural links between Kenya and Meghalaya, and would also explore ways how the two can collaborate in the field of agriculture.

George C Mkondiwa, High commissioner of Malawi was so fascinated by the scenic beauty of Shillong that he assured to tell his compatriots to not end up in metros alone while travelling to India and visit Shillong.

Judith K K Kan’goma Kapijimpanga, Zambia High Commissioner too expressed her excitement and said that Zambia too has a huge tourism potential and it would be great if the two can have a tourism exchange programme.

Echoing Kapijimpanga, Baraka Haran Luvanda, the Tanzanian Ambassador to India, said that he will see if one of the airlines can have a tie-up with Tanzania so that tourists from the country can visit Shillong hassle-free.
