Additional Chief Secretary DP Wahlang appointed as CMD of MeECL
“The services of DP Wahlang, Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Education department etc are partially placed at the disposal of power department for appointment as CMD of MeECL and its three subsidiaries – MPGCL, MPTCL and MPDCL with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders,” read a notification issued on Tuesday.

Additional Chief Secretary DP Wahlang has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
“The services of DP Wahlang, Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Education department etc are partially placed at the disposal of power department for appointment as CMD of MeECL and its three subsidiaries – MPGCL, MPTCL and MPDCL with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders,” read a notification issued on Tuesday.
It also said that Wahlang will also function as Additional Chief Secretary Home (Police) and Home (Political) departments. He is, however, relieved of his functions as Additional Chief Secretary, Secretariat Administration, Forests & Environment & Public Works Departments.
The notification also informed that Dr Shakil P Ahammed will function as Principal Secretary Power department with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders. He is, however, relieved of his functions as Principal Secretary, Mining & Geology department.
On the other hand, CVD Diengdoh will also function as secretary, law department and legal remembrance and as Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs department with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.
On his services having been replaced at the disposal of personnel & AR (A) department by the power department, CVD Diengdoh is, however, relieved of his functions as Director, Corporate Affairs, MeECL and its 3 subsidiaries viz MPGCL, MPTCL and MPDCL with effect from the date of handing over charge.
Further, the services of Amborse C Marak, Secretary in-charge Education department, Director School Education and Literacy etc, are partially placed at the disposal of the power department for appointment as Director Corporate Affairs, MeECL and its 3 subsidiaries - MPGCL, MPTCL and MPDCL.
He shall also function as secretary in-charge personnel & AR department, the notification said.
