Union Government sanctions grants of Rs 485 crore to Manipur under MGNREGA

The grants are a part of the 1st instalment of the 2nd tranche of Central help towards wage, material and administrative component for the state.

IMPHAL:

The Government of India has sanctioned Grants-in-Aid amounting to Rs 4,85,50,75,000 to the Government of Manipur under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the financial year 2019-20.

The grants are a part of the 1st instalment of the 2nd tranche of Central Assistance towards wage, material and administrative component for the state.

“The State Government must transfer these funds along with the State share to the State Employment Guarantee Fund for programme implementation within 3 days positively from receipt of these funds. In case of non-transfer beyond this period, Central Government may be constrained to stop further releases. Besides, the State Government would be liable to pay an interest of 12 per cent for the period of delay beyond the specified period,” a circular issued by the Ministry of Rural Development stated.
