IMPHAL:

Chandel district in Manipur has topped the list of aspirational districts ranked by Niti Aayog for June, and Assam's Dhubri and Nagaland's Kiphire are at the fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Sahibganj of Jharkhand has ranked second and, Firozpur of Punjab ranked third in the list.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, "Happy to learn that Chandel District in Manipur topped the list of aspirational districts ranked by Niti Aayog for the month of June."

The delta rankings were compiled taking into account the incremental development made by over 112 aspirational districts across six developmental areas in June 2021.

The development areas that were taken into consideration for the ranking include health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development and basic infrastructure.

In January 2018, the Aspirational Districts Programme was launched to transform districts that have shown comparatively lesser growth in key social areas.
