A vehicle carrying a nurse, who was on her way for COVID-19 vaccination duty, was reportedly attacked by the supporters of the bandh called by Manipur Panchayat Parishad (MPP) at the Phougachao area along the Imphal-Churachandpur road on Thursday.

The nurse, named Rosy Themboi Haokip, was posted at Leisang Primary Health Sub-Centre (PHSC) in Churachandpur district.

Haokip was inside a private car being driven by her brother when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered by the Medical Officer-in-Charge of PHC Saikot Churachandpur, Dr James K. Thouthang at the Churachandpur Police Station.

It may be mentioned that the MPP from six districts had called for a 48-hour bandh from April 21 in all Panchayati areas in protest against the non-release of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) funds under the 15th Finance Commission Awards (2nd Installments).
