Manipur Govt calls for muting ambulance sirens amid COVID gloom

IMPHAL:

In a bid to reduce anxiety and panic caused by the COVID-19 gloom, the Manipur Government has called for muting sirens of Ambulances across the state, officials informed.

In this regard, the state's medical directorate has issued a memorandum urging chief medical officers, medical superintendents, private hospitals staffs and ambulance operators to silence sirens, as they cause panic and anxiety among the public.

However, the sirens can be activated only if the roads are blocked, the memorandum added.

Earlier, the Manipur Government had extended curfew in Imphal West, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur districts as containment measures to arrest the spread of the virus.
