IMPHAL:

The Manipur government on Tuesday imposed additional restrictions in respect to the opening of shops, movement of people and vehicles, and operation of wholesale markets.

According to the new order, there shall be a complete ban on the movement of all vehicles and only one out of three shops or vendors of total shops or vendors in one location shall be allowed to open on a rotational basis.

However, the order further stated that goods vehicles, oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG and Oil tankers and vehicles of other essential services like power supply, water supply, waste/garbage clearance, public distribution system, medical/covid services and vehicles of personnel of departments/organisations are exempted from the purview of the order and shall continue to operate without any restrictions.

The new set of restrictions comes amid the increasing number of fresh COVID cases in the state, wherein the government is trying to put in place all kinds of containment measures to stop the spike.
