Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the new Electrical and Mechanical Workshop at the Imphal International Airport on Friday.


Addressing the gathering, Singh lauded the Planning and Development Authority (PDA), Manipur, for implementing the workshop and said the up-gradation of Imphal Airport into an International Airport was a long-awaited project.


“Every implementing agency should always maintain quality while carrying out any project, keeping in view the larger interest of the public and the state,” Singh said. 


He also stated that Manipur’s connectivity with other states across the country had improved considerably in recent years.


“The state government would consult with the Airports Authority of India to develop necessary infrastructure and facilities for extending the operational duration of Imphal International Airport,” he said.


Others present during the inauguration included PDA chairman T Robindro, Loktak Development Authority chairman L Susindro, and other dignitaries.
