Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, on Tuesday, held a meeting via video conferencing with the District Commissioners (DCs) of different districts on the COVID-19 situation in the state.

During the virtual meeting, the Chief Minister asked the DCs about the number of active cases, patients on home isolation, vaccination drive, preparations for the re-activation of COVID care centres and other related subjects.

Singh told the respective officials to be prepared for the possible situation coming in the next two months, and also asked them to submit detailed reports on their activities, preparations and inadequacies to the Principal Secretary (Health), with a copy to the Chief Minister’s Office.

Cautioning the public on the new strain of the COVID-19 virus, Singh urged the DCs to properly check if the patients on home quarantine are kept isolated from their family members and instructed to bring such patients who do not have proper amenities like separate toilets and rooms to COVID care centres.

Singh also directed them to expedite the formation of COVID Awareness-cum-Enforcement committees of different Assembly Constituencies to re-activate COVID care centres at the earliest.

He also stressed the need to cross-check COVID negative reports for those entering the state from different entry points and also instructed the DCs to intensify vaccination programmes, raise more awareness and penalise SOPs violators stringently.
