Manipur: Assam Rifles seized Areca nuts worth ₹ 4.32 crore from Kamjong District
 

The incident has been reported to the Customs Department for further legal action.

IMPHAL:

The Assam Rifles unit under the aegis of Headquarter IGAR (South) recovered Areca nuts worth ₹ 4.32 crore from Punamram village under Kamjong District on April 12.

Based on credible inputs regarding the dumping of Betel nuts from across the border in the areas of Punamram and Makan villages of Kamjong district, a team of Kasong post carried out an anti-smuggling operation in the border villages on April 12. 

On conducting a thorough search near the villages, the team recovered approximately 1800 bags of Betel nuts with a market value of ₹ 4.32 crore dumped in jungles between Punamram and Makan villages.

The incident has been reported to the Customs Department for further legal action.
