IMD cautions northeastern states to stay alert amid lithe weather

Arunachal will likely experience a downpour on July 6, while Assam and Meghalaya will receive it on July 7.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the northeastern states of Arunachal PradeshAssam and 

Meghalaya is likely to experience isolated thunderstorms or heavy rainfall in the next few days.


According to a press communique issued by the department on Monday, Arunachal will likely experience a downpour on July 6, while Assam and Meghalaya will receive it on July 7.


"Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 5 days," IMD tweeted on July 4.



"The moist easterly winds in (the) lower level from the Bay of Bengal likely to establish gradually over parts of eastern India from 8th July onwards. It is likely to spread into northwest India covering Punjab and north Haryana by 10th July," the department added.


Meanwhile, IMD has cautioned the region to remain alert during the whole week.
