Assam CM visits social activist Birubala Rabha, takes stock of her health condition 

Padma Shri awardee Dr Birubala Rabha has been fighting a relentless battle against superstition and social evils like witch-hunting for years.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, visited the residence of noted activist against witch-hunting and Padma Shri awardee, Dr Birubala Rabha, at Thakurbila village in Goalpara district and took stock of her health condition.


The Chief Minister interacted with the activist, who hasn’t been keeping well for a while, and handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh from the CM's Relief Fund as an aid for her treatment. 


He also wished her a speedy recovery so that she can resume her tirade against the menace of superstition with zeal and fortitude.


Padma Shri awardee Dr Birubala Rabha has been fighting a relentless battle against superstition and social evils like witch-hunting for years. 


Through ‘Mission Birubala’, she has been working to generate awareness against witch-hunting and has saved many lives.
