Assam: FIR registered against contractor and engineers for siphoning off over Rs 52 lakh with fake bills

The three accused have been alleged of draining off over Rs 52 lakh, by making fake bill vouchers.

Following an order by Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan M P, the Chief Executive Officer of Dhubri Zila Parishad and the Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Animesh Talukdar lodged an FIR (First Information Report) against two engineers and a contractor of the rural works department in Dhubri, Assam


According to reports on Friday, the three accused have been alleged of draining off over Rs 52 lakh, by making fake bill vouchers.


The two engineers have been identified as Saddam Hussain and Abdullah Ali Masud of the Gauripur Development Block.


The complaint was lodged against the two persons for clearing bills worth Rs 52.72 lakh of the contractor, Jahidul Haque, sources said.


Haque had submitted fake bills to the department, which were approved without ascertaining facts.


Meanwhile, the accused are yet to be arrested.
