Six militants from various outfits arrested in Arunachal Pradesh

Among the arrested militants, there are cadets of National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) and EastErn Naga National Government (ENNG), the police said. The police seized six pistols, live ammunition, contraband substances, and extortion money from their possesion.

In a major anti-insurgency operation, a joint team of Khonsa Police and Assam Rifles (Khonsa Battalion) arrested six militants of various insurgent groups in Khonsa district of Arunachal Pradesh, on Thursday.

Among the arrested militants, there are cadets of National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) and Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG), the police said. The police seized six pistols, live ammunition, contraband substances, and extortion money from their possesion.

According to sources, on receiving information about the presence of insurgent groups around Khonsa area, a joint team of Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and Tirap police launched an operation in the area and nabbed the militants. The police added that the arrested militants were involved in a number of extortion and kidnapping cases.

During interrogation, the militants revealed that they had kidnapped a 28-year-old woman in suspicion of passing information to security forces in Longbo village in June 2021. They also admitted to have kidnapped a Rural Works Department (RWD) employee from Sanliam village, Tirap and extorted Rs 3 lakh.
