Assam: Police confiscate 1 kg heroin in Karbi Anglong

The seizure comes just four days after Assam Police confiscated heroin worth over Rs 4 crore in Karbi Anglong district and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

In a major drug bust, police seized 1 kg heroin worth INR 8 crore in the international market from an auto-rickshaw near Balijan Forest area in Bokajan sub-division of Karbi Anglong district, on September 5.

Acting on a tip-off, an operation was carried out under Khatkhati Police station on Sunday at around 6.30 am, and an auto-rickshaw bearing registration NL 07 F A2482 was intercepted at Balijan Forest Gate Tini Ali.

The drugs, packed in seventy-eight soap cases, were found stashed inside the auto-rickshaw. The police have arrested the driver of the three-wheeler, one 40-year-old Suruj Ali of Marigaon district. Bokajan Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), John Das had led the team in this operation.
