Assam-Mizoram border row: Gunshots fired, several police personnel injured

Both governments of Assam and Mizoram have failed to come out with a solution on the ongoing border tension.

During the shootout, the vehicle of the Cachar Deputy Commissioner was found to be damaged.

“I have just spoken to Hon’ble Chief Minister @ZoramthangaCM ji. I have reiterated that Assam will maintain status quo and peace between the borders of our state. I have expressed my willingness to visit Aizawl and discuss these issues if need be,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Replying to Himanta's tweet, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga tweeted, “Dear Himanta, after a cordial meeting of CMs by Hon’ble Shri @amitshah ji, surprisingly 2’companies of Assam police with civilians at Vairengte Auto Rickshaw stand inside Mizoram today. They even overrun CRPF personnel/ Mizoram police,”.

The ongoing border tension between Assam and Mizoram has been ongoing for the past few months and both governments have failed to come out with any solution.
