Review meeting on COVID-19 situation in Dibrugarh held

DIBRUGARH:

A review meeting was attended by Sanjay Kisan, minister for Tea Tribe Welfare, Labour and Employment, Government of Assam at the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh, Pallav Gopal Jha gave an overview of the various measures being taken in the district by the district administration, health department and other departments regarding the prevention of COVID-19 and the medical services being provided to all the patients.

During the meeting, Dr Sanjib Kakoti, Principal, Assam Medical College, apprised about the availability of ICU, oxygen as well as the medical services being provided to the patients. 

In addition, Prateek Thube, Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh apprised regarding the measures taken by Dibrugarh Police for strict  implementation of the new Covid guidelines issued by the government in the current situation.

In his address to the meeting, the Minister said that this challenge of Covid should be overcome by all with the help of cooperation and concerted efforts. He said that in addition to complying with all the rules issued by the health department for the prevention of disease, all the employees, especially in the areas of tea gardens, should be instructed to observe the covid protocols like wearing mask, sanitisation and observing social distance.

The Minister said that all possible measures would be taken by the government to prevent the spread of the epidemic and to provide medical services to the patients infected with it. 

The meeting was also attended by Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, MLAs Chakradhar Gogoi, Punakon Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Physicians of the Health Department, ICMR and members of various tea garden management committees. 

Later, the minister visited the hospital at Lepetkata Tea Estate.

The minister Sanjay Kishan has been given the additional charge to monitor the covid situation in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district in the cabinet meeting of Assam government.
