Air and rail passengers arriving in Assam will have to undergo mandatory seven days home quarantine upon arrival even if the result of the COVID test conducted on arrival is negative.

“In partial modification of the earlier standard operating procedures (SOPs) for persons arriving in Assam, all passengers arriving by flights and trains from outside the state will have to undergo compulsory home quarantine for seven days, even if the result of the COVID test undergone on arrival, is negative,” an order issued by the Assam Health and Family Welfare Department on Wednesday stated.

“However, government officials and those travelling due to medical reasons and family bereavement are exempted from this mandatory seven days home quarantine,” the order said.
