Assam: Massive fire engulfs six houses in Dibrugarh

As the dry season approaches, citizens are advised to be careful and mindful while starting a fire or using any fire-prone items.

DIBRUGARH: 

Six houses were gutted in a fire that occurred at Prem Nagar area of Chandmari ghat in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh on Monday, April 26. 

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out around 6.30 pm at a grocery shop belonging to one Raju Singh and, it didn't take long for the flame to spread to the nearby houses. 

Sources said Raju Singh had lit a candle after the electricity went out in the area. "And that is how it all started," sources said. 

A local resident informed the fire was doused after the intervention of the fire services. 

Property worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire.

Last week, a fire engulfed four houses in the Subhash Pally area of Dibrugarh, injuring three persons.
