Kamrup Metro and Dibrugarh report highest vaccination percentage in Assam

A total number of 23,858 people were vaccinated in Kamrup metro, while in Dibrugarh 18,445 were given the jab till 6 pm on Tuesday.

DIBRUGARH:

The second day of the mega COVID-19 vaccination drive in Assam witnessed Kamrup Metro inoculating the highest number of people on Tuesday, followed by Dibrugarh in the second place.

A total number of 23,858 people were vaccinated in Kamrup metro, while in Dibrugarh 18,445 were given the jab till 6 pm.

The mega vaccination drive in which a total of three lakh people will be vaccinated daily across Assam, started on June 21, after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced ramping up the vaccination programme to inoculate the majority of the population.

Giving details about the vaccination drive in Dibrugarh, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha said, "Each district has been assigned a target for vaccination. We have good mobilization on the ground and all department are working in tandem to make the drive successful in Dibrugarh. The vaccination will happen across 100 COVID-19 vaccination centres in the district on a daily basis."

Jha further informed that the positivity rate in Dibrugarh is less than 2 per cent, and most of the cases are being reported from Duliajan.

The district reported 193 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, which has substantially gone down, the district administration informed.
