First book on Dehing-Patkai National Park released in Tinsukia

Good news for environmentalists and nature lovers, a new book titled, 'Serene  Soraipung' -The Mystic Tale of Dehing-Patkai National Park, was released at a function in Tinsukia, on Thursday.

Written and edited by Imon Abedin, the book is a detailed account of the Dehing Patkai National Park. "It took three years of intense research and fieldwork to write the book. ‘Serene Soraipung…’ is the first book on Dehing Patkai National Park, and I wrote it to highlight the grandeur of the park to the world,” Imon said.

"The book is a complete package on Dehing Patkai and it will be of great help to researchers and those who want to know more about this magnificent rainforest in Assam. The book has both pictorial representations and data on the national park," Abedin added.

Abedin said that the book will help readers gain in-depth knowledge on the flora and fauna, and rich biodiversity of the area. “Among other things, it includes chapters dedicated to the newly discovered reptile species,” he said, adding that profits from the sale of the book will be used for nature conservation.

Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar, SP Debojit Deori, and Prof Dr SP Biswas, among others, attended the launch.
