Assam polls 2021: BJP to move court seeking withdrawal of EC's ban on Himanta 

 The EC, on Friday, banned  BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma from campaigning for his remarks against Bodoland People's Front Chairperson Hagrma Mohilary.

Following the Election Commission's 48-hour ban on Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from campaigning, the BJP party has decided to move the court for withdrawal of the order.

"On legal and factual grounds, BJP will approach the court against the Election Commission's 48-hour ban on Himanta Biswa Sarma from campaigning in Assam," Union Minister Anurag Thakur said on Saturday.

The EC, on Friday, banned Sarma from campaigning for his remarks against Bodoland People's Front Chairperson Hagrma Mohilary.

The polling for the third and final phase of the Assam Assembly elections will take place on April 6.
