Assam Water Resources Minister reviews flood situation in Kokrajhar 

The minister took stock of soil erosion and the flood control measures being taken in the area.

Assam Minister for Water Resources, Information and Public relations (IPR) Pijush Hazarika, on Thursday, visited Kokrajhar and reviewed the flood situation in the area.

The minister took stock of soil erosion and the flood control measures being taken in the area.

Hazarika also inspected the ongoing construction work of the Kokrajhar medical college at Beswargaon.

The minister held a meeting with senior officials of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) including BTR CEM Pramod Boro and DC Kokrajhar.

During his interaction with officials from the water resources department and BTR administration, Hazarika directed the officials to take steps o stop the river erosion across the BTR districts.

Every year, floods and erosion cause extensive damage in Assam, and the government is taking all possible measures to solve the decade-old problem.

The government has undertaken several anti-erosion measures in various places of Assam to stop erosion in areas that lie along the bank of rivers.
