Assam: Three arrested for supplying contraband items in Doomdooma

Doomdooma Police, on Monday, arrested three drug traffickers from Doomdooma town, and recovered 690 grams of Brown Sugar from their possession.


The drug peddlers were identified as Amod Shah, a drug dealer, and two peddlers Munna Sahani and Sunil Das. 


Giving details about the arrests, Tinsukia SP, Debojit Deori said, "After receiving specific information, police carried out a raid at Doomdooma overbridge and intercepted three persons carrying out a drug deal. A search on them led to the recovery of the drugs consignment. Subsequently, We arrested all three of them."


Sub-Inspector of Doomdooma police station, Chittaranjan Buragohain, who led the team informed that the accused Amod Shah was the kingpin of the entire drugs racket in Doomdooma, and was involved in the supply drugs to his customers through his network. 


The trio have been booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. 


Raids by Tinsukia police in the recent past has led to the arrest of several drug peddlers, besides the recovery of a substantial amount of Brown Sugar and Cannabis, police informed.


"Our crackdown against drug racket will continue. Many young people are involved in the consumption of drugs and drug peddling," Deori added.
