Assam: Security forces nab four NSCN-KYA militants from Tinsukia

A joint team of Assam police and Assam Rifles apprehended four National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-KYA) militants from Tinsukia district on Tuesday in a counterinsurgency operation.

The security personnel recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including three Type-81 assault rifles, 294 live rounds, seven magazines, three mobile phones, and other camp materials, in a follow-up operation following the capture of the militants. The arrested have been identified as Osa Gangsa, Pumla Pansa, Panglang Gangsa and Jangang Patadam.


According to the police, the operation was launched at the Tinkopani Reserve Forest area on Monday night, after security forces received inputs about insurgents operating in the area.

An extensive search operation that went on till the wee hours of Tuesday led to the busting of a hideout and nabbing of the militants, security forces informed. Subsequently, upon interrogation, the insurgents revealed a separate hideout where arms and ammunition were hidden.
