Assam: Charaideo police detain 9 persons for suspected “human sacrifice”
This is not the first time such cases have been reported from the district. Earlier, similar cases of alleged human sacrifices had come to light from the region, said a police official, adding that quacks in these areas often manipulate people to do such acts.
DIBRUGARH:
Charaideo police on Tuesday detained nine persons from the Sonari area of the district for suspected “human sacrifice” of a four-year-old girl.
Charaideo SP, Sudhakar Singh said, "We have picked up nine persons for interrogation. Right now, we can't say for sure if it is a case of human sacrifice. But we have found some puja-related items near the dead body. We have sent the body for post mortem. "
Sources informed that a dead body of a 4-years-old minor girl, who was missing for the last two days, was recovered from Singlo River in Sonari. Items used in Kali puja were also found near the dead body.

In 2016, a similar case was reported from the Ratanpur Tea Estate in Charaideo when a body of a four-year-old girl was found, after she had gone missing from her residence, in similar circumstances.
