DIBRUGARH:

Security forces from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, on Wednesday, destroyed a training camp of proscribed National Liberation Front of Boroland (NDFB) in the dense forests of Pakke-Kessang district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Over 300 commandos from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh police took part in the operation, which led to the destruction of the camp.

It was suspected that militants of the NDFB, disguised as "timer operators" were imparting training to the new recruits at the camp.

Giving details about the operations, the Arunachal Police in a statement said,  "The camps were recently built and most probably the people may have been engaged in the garb of timber operators."

Police further informed that dummy wooden weapons were recovered from the spot, however, the militants managed to flee into the forest.

"The recovery of dummy wooden weapons generally used during training raises the question of whether training activities were being planned at the camps,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, security forces have intensified operation against the insurgent group operating in the area following the destruction of the camp.

It may be mentioned that the state of Arunachal Pradesh shares a long international boundary with Myanmar and the insurgent group enter the state through the dense jungle route.
