Assam: Rajnath Singh inaugurates 20 km double-lane Kimin-Potin Road

It was informed that the double-lane 20 KM road constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) will facilitate the establishment of the proposed industrial belt in Arunachal Pradesh, in addition to serving as the main artery or the Lower Subansiri district from Assam.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday inaugurated the double lane 20 KM Kimin-Potin road in Assam's Lakhimpur district.

It was informed that the double-lane 20 KM road constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) will facilitate the establishment of the proposed industrial belt in Arunachal Pradesh, in addition to serving as the main artery for the Lower Subansiri district from Assam.

Singh who is in Assam to inaugurate a total of 12 road projects said, "Today, I am very happy to dedicate 12 road projects constructed by BRO to the nation simultaneously." 

He mentioned that it was integral to connect the Northeast with roadways for the economic development of the region, and under the leadership of Narendra Modi many projects have been sanctioned.

Speaking about the importance of securing border areas, the Defence Minister said that it was important to develop the border areas and enhance security at such locations.

Singh informed that under the 'Act East Policy' the government is working for the overall development of border areas, and a large number of strategically important bridges and roads have been completed in recent times.

He said that the 20 KM Kimin-Potin road will play a significant role in terms of connectivity for the development of the upcoming industrial belt in the region.
