DIBRUGARH:

Prominent tea planter of Assam Mahadeo Jalan died at the private nursing home in upper Assam Dibrugarh on Friday at around 4.55 am.

Mahadeo Jalan was 86-years old.

Jalan dedicated his life to tea and to the welfare of the community. An experienced hand at tea, he helped to bridge the gap between the government, workers and the management.

It may be noted Jalan was a philanthropist known to have donated land for key iconic locations in Dibrugarh such as Jagannath temple, AMCH, Murleidhor Jalan bus stand, and many more such locations.

Mahadeo Jalan was born in Tinsukia on 24 November 1935, spending most of his life in Dibrugarh and then the later part of his life in Kolkata.
