Assam polls 2021: BJP will win 22 out of 40 seats in third phase, claims Himanta

The Assembly elections for 126 seats are being held in three phases. The first phase took place on March 27, while the second phase on April 1 and the last phase on April 6.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongman and Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Tuesday, claimed that the BJP would win 22 out of 40 seats in the third and final phase of the Assam Assembly polls.

Sarma, along with his family, cast their votes in the Amingaon Bengali High school polling station around 11 am.

Sarma has been contesting from the Jalukbari constituency since 2001.

“There are 40 seats in this phase, we are expecting to win 22 of them; the number can be higher. We are sure that NDA will form the government in Assam,” Sarma said.

The first phase witnessed a voter turnout of nearly 77 per cent, while a voter turnout of 74.76 per cent was recorded in the second phase.
