Assam Poll Results 2021: Early trends favour BJP-led NDA in Assam

According to the early trends in 56 seats in Assam, the BJP-led NDA is leading in 47 seats by 9.30 am, Congress-led Mahajot is leading in 13 seats and others in four seats.

Counting of votes for the Assam Assembly elections began amid strict COVID-19 protocols at 8 am on Sunday starting with the counting of the 150,033 postal ballots across 52 postal ballot counting centres.

According to the early trends in 56 seats in Assam, the BJP-led NDA is leading in 47 seats by 9.30 am, Congress-led Mahajot is leading in 13 seats and others in four seats.

According to reports, BJP key candidates, Sarbananda Sonowal is leading in Majuli, Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jalukbari and Siddhartha Bhattacharya is leading in Gauhati East constituency.

Jailed leader and Raijor Dal president, Akhil Gogoi, who is contesting the election from Sivasagar constituency, and Assam Jatiya Parishad Lurinjyoti Gogoi (Duliajan LAC)) is also leading. 

Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass who is contesting from Patacharkuchi is leading. However, Assam Congress president Ripun Bora is trailing in the Gohpur constituency, according to the trends in the first hour.

In the Jagiroad constituency, BJP leader Pijush Hazarika is leading.

It may be mentioned that there has been a staggering 414 per cent increase in postal ballots compared to the 2016 Assembly polls when only 29,173 postal ballots were received.
