Assam police seize 25 cattle, three held

According to sources, all the arrested individuals hail from Bihar's Vaishali district.

GUWAHATI:

Assam police seized a total of 25 cattle and arrested three bovine smugglers in Churaibari in Karimganj district on Sunday. 

The cattle, which included 13 calves, were being ferried in a truck from Bihar to Agartala, Tripura.

On Saturday evening, the truck was stopped by a team of police during routine checking and were asked for necessary documents, which the owner of the cattle could not provide, police said.

Consequently, the team confiscated the vehicle and seized the cattle.

The arrested persons include Monarik Rai, the owner of the cattle, Sontosh Singh, the truck driver and Dharmendra Rai, the helper.

According to sources, all the arrested individuals hail from Bihar's Vaishali district.
