Assam Police arrest two ‘doctors’ for practising with forged MBBS certificates
Assam Police arrested two homoeopathy doctors for allegedly practising allopathy in private hospitals by submitting forged MBBS degree certificates.
Police arrested the duo following a recent complaint lodged with the Bhangagarh police by Sujit Bordhan, the registrar of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences in the Narkasur hilltop area here.
“Hrishikesh Bhuyan and Monoranjan Roy, both homoeopathic doctors, were reportedly practising allopathic medicine in a few private hospitals of Guwahati by submitting fake MBBS degree certificates in the name of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences,” Bordhan stated in the FIR.
“Accordingly a case was registered at Bhangagarh police station vide Bhangagarh PS Case No 201/2021 U/S 420/468/471 IPC. Investigations of the case have been transferred to the crime branch,” an official statement issued here on Thursday informed.
Both the accused have been apprehended and interrogation is going on.
Bhuyan, 25, hails from the Basistha Chariali area here, while Roy belongs to Botiamari village under Boko police station in Kamrup district.
The development comes amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Kamrup Metropolitan district.
