Assam Minister inspects construction work of Multi-disciplinary Sports complex 

Only 48% of physical progress has been attained in the project as of date.

DIBRUGARH:

Assam State Sports & Youth Welfare minister, Bimal Borah visited & inspected the construction work of the Multi-disciplinary Sports Complex at Khanikar in Dibrugarh on Monday.

The construction of the stadium started in March 2019 with a project cost of Rs 136 crores and was supposed to be completed by December 2021. Only 48% of physical progress has been attained in the project as of date.

The minister expressed his displeasure with the slow progress of the work. He instructed the District Sports Officer (DSO) to set up his office near the project site to monitor the work on day to day basis. The minister instructed to complete the stadium by June 2022.

The multi-disciplinary sports complex is being constructed consisting of facilities like an indoor stadium with a sitting capacity of 1000 spectators, an outdoor stadium with a G+4 concert gallery with a capacity of 5000 spectators and another 12000 sitting capacity on the ground level and a modern swimming pool.

"The project cost has been escalated to 160 Cr considering various aspects," said the minister.
