Assam: IOCL signs MoU for setting up health facilities at Bongaigaon Civil Hospital

DIBRUGARH:

The Bongaigaon Refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), on Friday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bongaigaon District Administration for setting up two medical facilities at Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.

Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner, Dr M S Lakshmi Priya, and Deputy General Manager (CC & CSR) of IOCL, Sita Baruah, signed the MoU in presence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at Janata Bhawan. 

As per the MoU, Bongaigaon Refinery will allocate a fund of Rs 2,79,66,000 for setting up an oxygen generation plant and another Rs 3,78,85,000 for the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC)/ Mother and Child Ward at the hospital.

Sarma thanked Bongaigaon Refinery for the contribution and expressed confidence that the district’s health infrastructure would receive a major boost with this initiative.

The Chief Minister also directed the DC Bongaigaon to engage a professional architect in the construction of the NRC/Mother and Child Ward at the hospital.

It was informed that the medical oxygen generation plant and the booster compressor for cylinder refilling with a production or discharge flow capacity of 30 cubic metres is expected to fulfil the requirement of medical oxygen in the district amid the COVID-19 situation.

Furthermore, the NRC/Mother and Child Ward at the hospital will equip the hospital with the necessary infrastructure to treat malnourished children who suffer from various health complications.
