Assam: Dibrugarh reports highest single-day spike of 612 COVID-19 cases

DIBRUGARH:

Dibrugarh district on Monday recorded the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, with 612 people being infected with the virus.

Besides the daily tally, Eight people succumbed to the infection on Monday.

The highest daily cases recorded in Dibruragh earlier was on May 20, when the district reported 472 cases.

According to the data given by district health officials, the Dibrugarh district has reported 8859 cases and 121 deaths between May 1 to May 24.

Meanwhile, the district administration has enforced several COVID-19 guidelines to control the surge. 

"The positivity rate of Dibrugarh district has declined during the past few days. But today COVID-19 cases increased to an all-time high. For the last several days' daily cases were between 350 to 400," a health official said.

Meanwhile, an official maintained that the cases are coming from tea garden areas.
