Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary, Devajit Saikia, has been included in the seven-member Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) committee formed to look into the compensation of the domestic cricketers who had to suffer financially in view of the pandemic during the season of 2020-21.

The committee comprises members from all the six zones, including Saikia, who is a former first-class cricketer (North-East Zone); Mohammad Azharuddin and Santosh Menon (South Zone); Rohan Jaitley (North Zone); Avishek Dalmiya (East Zone); Jaydev Shah (West Zone) and Yudhvir Singh (Central Zone), most of whom are past cricketers.

It may be noted that the BCCI could host only three domestic competitions in the last season - Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Women's Senior One Day Trophy - owing to the onslaught of COVID-19.

As a result of this truncated nature of the domestic schedule necessitated by the pandemic, the cricketers had lost out on a lot of income.
