Assam: COVID cases slow down in Dibrugarh; positivity rate at 2 per cent

DIBRUGARH: 

COVID positive cases have been on the decline in the last couple of days in Dibrugarh district.

Speaking to TNT-The Northeast Today, Dr Nabajyoti Gogoi, district surveillance officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme said, “The trend of COVID positive cases has been on the decline in Dibrugarh. The positivity rate is 2 per cent in the district. Already, the virus has infected many people this year with 40 per cent of the population being affected in the district”.

Gogoi said, “The people should maintain Covid protocols by wearing masks and using hand sanitizer”.

“Today, 1005 samples were collected and out of that 230 were positive. 212 people have died in the district since April 1,2021 to June 8,” he informed.

“Cases have been slowing down owing to the COVID-19 protocols. The people of the district are following the guidelines issued by the government. We conducted enough test in the last few days,” said a health official.
