Another Assam doctor assaulted in Darrang
After a junior doctor Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati of Hojai was brutally attacked in Hojai, yet another case of assault on a doctor was reported from Assam’s Darrang district on June 6.
According to sources, a youth Congress leader from Darrang district allegedly attacked Dr Ahmed Ali and his wife at the Afreen Health Care Centre in Kharupetia.
It may be mentioned Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati was brutally attacked by at least 28 miscreants in Hojai recently, which drew criticism from all over Assam.
“The sister of the Congress leader visited the hospital for treatment, however the doctor failed to attend the patient on time, the Congress leader burst out in anger and allegedly misbehaved with the doctor and attacked him physically,” a police source said.
According to reports, Dr Ahmed Ali’s wife was also physically assaulted when she came to rescue the doctor.
Kharupetia police have registered a case against the Congress leader.
The Indian Medical Association Assam branch submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the assault of the doctor.
