Assam CM visits South East Asia’s first gas-based power station in Dibrugarh

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 19 visited the power generation campus of the Namrup Thermal Power Station (NTPS) in Dibrugarh which is South East Asia’s first gas-based power station.

In a meeting with senior officials of the Power Department and NTPS, the Chief Minister discussed several aspects to lend empowerment to the thermal power station by strengthening its infrastructure and generation capacity.

Sarma also took stock of the status of the Namrup 100 MW Combined Cycle Replacement Power Project (Phase-I) which is under trial run and also reviewed the preparedness for the Namrup Replacement Power Project (Phase-II).

Managing Director, Assam Power Generation Company Limited, Kalyani Baruah gave a power point presentation highlighting the different projects of the company to augment the power generation capacity of the state.

Later, the Chief Minister also visited the campus of the Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) at Namrup in Dibrugarh district to review the progress of the ongoing projects.
