GUWAHATI:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday flagged off 15 ambulances, donated by Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, at a programme held at Janata Bhawan, Dispur, Guwahati.

Apart from the ambulances, the automotive giant also donated 15 oxygen concentrators as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma thanked the automotive manufacturing corporation for its donations, stating that it would help the Health Department in rendering critical care services not only to those battling Covid but also patients in general.

He also said that the ambulances and oxygen concentrators would strengthen the state government’s health infrastructure.

Hailing the Health Department’s efforts, Biswa said that it is because of the timely and round-the-clock services of the department, with its men and materials, that the daily caseload of Covid positive patients has come down in the state.

He also said that after the recent visit of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya to Assam, the vaccine shortage issue of the state was redressed.

Talking about the coverage of Covid vaccination in Assam, the Chief Minister said that during the current month, 61 lakh people have already been vaccinated and the figure is likely to reach 70 lakh by the end of this month.
