Assam CM appeals ULFA (I) to release abducted ONGC employee 

The Chief Minister met the family members of Sakia at his residence on two occasions recently and assured the family that the government will act to get him released.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Thursday, urged the ULFA (I) Commander-in-Chief Paresh Baruah to release kidnapped ONGC employee Ritul Saikia from their captivity.

Talking to media persons here in Guwahati, Sarma said, "As an Assamese, I urge ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah to release Ritul Saikia. Paresh Baruah while talking to Assam based news channel on Wednesday clearly said that Ritul is in their custody in good health. They had denied the abduction and blamed the government, but the Chief through his statement has clarified that Ritul is still with ULFA (I)."

On May 19, ULFA (I) had confirmed that Ritul Saikia, an employee of ONGC, abducted last month was in their custody. 

Saikia was abducted along with two other ONGC employees from Assam's Sivasagar district on April 21.
