Assam boat mishap: Police arrest six staffers of Inland Water Transport
The arrested persons have been identified as Dhanbar Das, Biju Kumar Das, Jogen Das, Jayanta Dutta, Binod Baruah and Babul Neog. All of them are staffers of Inland Water Transport (IWT).

The Jorhat Police on Saturday arrested six persons and detained three others in connection with the Nimatighat boat mishap that left two persons dead and one missing on September 8.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dhanbar Das, Biju Kumar Das, Jogen Das, Jayanta Dutta, Binod Baruah and Babul Neog. All of them are staffers of Inland Water Transport (IWT).
"We have arrested six persons involved in the Nimatighat boat incident. We have asked them to reconstruct the entire event and are recording their statements. Further investigation is on to get more details about the tragedy," said Jorhat police SP Ankur Jain, adding that Majuli police has detained three persons in connection with the case.
On September 9, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had directed the police to register a criminal case against people responsible for the mishap.
