GUWAHATI:

Amrit Bhog Bhandara, a city-based social organisation along with Rotaract Club of Guwahati Luit, on Saturday, announced free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) for the general public, especially the daily wage labourers, at Fancy Bazar in Guwahati.

The decision was made, taking into consideration the alarming COVID situation in Kamrup Metropolitan.

The organiser said that these tests would be free-of-cost, and is being supported by the National Health Mission, Assam. The camp for 'testing the untested' is scheduled to begin on May 16 and the timing is from 8 am to 1 pm daily.

The main aim is to test, track & treat daily wage labourers who are not aware of the grave situation that the state is facing.

Apart from the above-mentioned project, the founder & brainchild of this initiative, Bhagchand Jain and Co-Organiser Tushar Jalan informed that they have already started free food delivery for the homeless, needy and the underprivileged ones residing in Guwahati and, promised to continue this 'noble' deed as long as the state is under curfew.

It may be mentioned that last year, Amrit Bhog Bhandara had provided free meals to around lakhs of people daily for 11 months until the situation became normal, an initiative that has been supported and applauded by many organisations.
