Assam: 10 underground cadres from various outfits surrender in Longding

Four self-styled cadres of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Unification (NSCN) (U), two of NSCN (Reformation) and one each of NSCN(K-Yung Aung), NSCN (IM), NSCN (K), and Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG), surrendered before the security forces.

Ten active cadres of various underground outfits surrendered before the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Longding Police in Arunachal Pradesh, on September 30.

Four self-styled cadres of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Unification (NSCN) (U), two of NSCN (Reformation) and one each of NSCN (K-Yung Aung), NSCN (IM), NSCN (K), and Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG), surrendered before the security forces.

The militants also surrendered various arms and ammunition to the security forces in an effort to join the mainstream and the peace process.

"The cadres surrendered five weapons and other ammunition. The cadres have also appealed to their fellow cadres to give up violence and lead a normal life," a statement from the Assam Rifles read.
