Rafael Nadal pulls out of Tokyo Olympics and Wimbledon 2021

Nadal who was beaten by Novak Djokovic at the French Open recently said that the time between the recently concluded championship event in France and Wimbledon is too less, and will not allow him to be ready for the tournament.

Tennis great Rafael Nadal on Thursday pulled out of Tokyo Olympics and Wimbledon 2021, stating that the clay-court season took a lot out of him.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion said he will focus on taking care of his body for now.

"Hi all, I have decided not to participate at this year’s Championships at Wimbledon and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. It’s never an easy decision to take but after listening to my body and discuss it with my team I understand that it is the right decision," Nadal said over a tweet.

Nadal who was beaten by Novak Djokovic at the French Open recently said that the time between the recently concluded championship event in France and Wimbledon is too less, and will not allow him to be ready for the tournament.

Nadal further said that the Olympic games are very close to his heart and it has been an honour for him to represent Spain in three Olympics.
