India vs SA T20I series to be held ahead of T20WC, says CSA chairman Lawson

In an exclusive tete-a-tete with The Northeast Today, Lawson said that the rescheduling of the series has been done with the consent of BCCI and for the time being India tour of South Africa will include only the Test and ODI series starting from December 26.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) Chairman, Lawson Naidoo on December 8 confirmed that the rescheduled four-match T20 international series vs India will be played during an opportune time in 2023, and ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

In an exclusive tete-a-tete with The Northeast Today, Lawson said that the rescheduling of the series has been done with the consent of BCCI and for the time being India tour of South Africa will include only the Test and ODI series starting from December 26.

"We have agreed with the BCCI that the T20 series will be re-scheduled during 2022, and (will be held) ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia," said Lawson Naidoo, Chairman CSA board.

Talking about the safety measures that CSA has taken to ensure the complete safety and security of players and staff for the upcoming series with Men in Blue, Lawson said that the safety of the players and officials is of paramount importance to CSA, and CSA is confident of maintaining a high standard of security throughout the India series. 

"The series (India vs South Africa) has always been planned on the basis of the teams and officials being in a bio-secure environment (BSE)," Lawson said.

"The CSA medical team have planned and executed effective BSE's for the Sri Lankan and Pakistani tours earlier this year, as well as for some of our domestic tournaments. There were no reported cases of Covid in any of these BSE's. We are confident of maintaining this standard of protection," the CSA Chairman added..

The test and ODI series will take place from December 26 to January 23, 2022, across four venues in South Africa.
