Eight kickboxers from Meghalaya to participate in WAKO INDIA National Kickboxing Championship

Eight talented Kickboxers from Meghalaya are all set to represent the state in the WAKO INDIA National Kickboxing Championship 2021, slated to be held in Goa from November 26 to 28.

Eight Kickboxers from Meghalaya are all set to represent the state in the WAKO INDIA National Kickboxing Championship 2021, slated to be held in Goa from November 26 to 28.

The Kickboxers from Meghalaya, under the guidance of Pynshai Mawrie, will compete with the best talents from across the counter in various categories, aiming to grab as many medals as possible.  

In an exclusive with The Northeast Today (TNT), Pynshai Mawrie, the coach leading the contingent said, it has been a proud moment for him and the Meghalaya Association Kickboxing Organizations (MAKO) to see eight talented kickboxers represent the state in the national events. He said he is confident enough that the kickboxers would bring laurels to the state in the said competition.

“I am feeling very happy as well as proud that I am leading a very talented bunch of kickboxers to an event like WAKO INDIA National Kickboxing Championship 2021, and I am sure we would make the state proud and win trophies in many categories,” said Mawrie.

Talking about the finances, Mawrie said that he is thankful to the people namely, Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA Laitumkhrah constituency, Fantin Lakadong, MDC 17 Laitumkhrah constituency, Micheal WanKhar, MDC Laban constituency, and KSU Laban circle along with Meghalaya Association Kickboxing Organization (MAKO), who have provided support regarding all the finances to participate in the tournament.

One of the bright prospects, Ribhalin Marbaniang, while speaking to TNT said that though she is nervous about the competition, she assured to bring gold for the state. Marbaniang said that she has enough experience and practice behind her to get through these jitters.

“I am a bit nervous about the competition, but I have practised for two hours every day for the even,t and have the experience to overcome this initial nervousness ahead of the tournament. I am hoping to win Gold medals this time, said Ribhalin.

WAKO India Kickboxing Federation is the National Sports Federation (NSF) to control and develop Kickboxing Sports activities, in all age groups and styles both male and female categories in India.
