Supreme Court gives Centre two-week deadline for CBSE and CISCE results assessment
The announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the cancellation of exams left millions of students uncertain on how admissions in colleges across the country or overseas would be determined.

Following the recent cancellation of the two central examinations for Class 12 due to COVID, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), the Supreme Court on Thursday, has given a two-week deadline to the central government to furnish well-defined objective criteria for the assessment of the students' results.
The announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the cancellation of exams left millions of students uncertain on how admissions in colleges across the country or overseas would be determined.
After the announcement, a bench of justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Mahehwari showed optimism over the decision but questioned the Centre for its criteria to make the result assessment.
The SC has adjourned the matter to June 17, stating that it was mindful of the students' interest in schools affiliated to state boards and will address the concerns after the objective assessment for the examinations has been settled.
